Hi all, I would like to know how to apply cyclic load? My purpose is to simulate the pavement under cyclic wheel load (558.41 kPa) (157.4 million standard axle).
I'm not sure that is it correct to apply the dynamic load as the cyclic wheel load? If yes, how could I find the exact value of amplitude and frequency?
I have read the manual and watched some tutorials, but it does not cover the traffic load.
For 5 Hz frequency, does it mean wheel load applied on the pavement 5 times per second?
Thanks you,
Dear Apiwatchara,
You can use the multipliers as shown in the screenshots to apply a dynamic load. You can check our tutorial example of a generator to see how the signal is applied:https://communities.bentley.com/products/geotech-analysis/w/plaxis-soilvision-wiki/45566/plaxis-2d-tutorial-13-dynamic-analysis-of-a-generator-on-an-elastic-foundation
The exact values depend on the data you have about this load vs. time.
Note that frequency is the number of occurrences of a repeating event per unit of time. So, 5Hz means that the load will be applied for a full cycle every 0.2sec leading to 5 cycles in 1sec.
You can also check the video for PLAXIS 3D since the logic is still the same:https://communities.bentley.com/products/geotech-analysis/w/plaxis-soilvision-wiki/45841/traffic-loads-simulating-a-moving-load
