Plaxis V21 file format compatibility

Is it possible to post a compatibility matrix between versions of Plaxis that show what versions of the Plaxis files can be read and written? We've some recent V21 Plaxis 2D files supplied to us that cannot be read in the V20 products and some supporting information (perhaps provided in the product release info) will help us navigate these compatibility issues

  • Dear Neil,

As far as I know, all PLAXIS versions work the same way. You cannot run projects saved in a newer version in an older version. It does not matter the difference between the versions. The user will not be able to open the v21 project in v20 version. You can try to do this through the command list and the Commands runner, but there is always a chance of failure. Conversely, in a new version, you can open many previous versions (not all, but most).

This is one of the reasons why it is useful to have an active GSE license. It gives access to updates and the latest versions of the program.
