I have a problem, I want to send my plaxis file to my teacher, so I save my file and send it, but when I download it and open it, this comes out, why? how can I send it to him so that he can open it.
Dear Alfonso,
An empty Input model indicates that probably either something went wrong during saving the project or during the copy&pasting (or sending it) the project folder got corrupted.
To ensure that everything is prepared well from the PLAXIS side, you are advised to use the Pack project option under File menu:https://communities.bentley.com/products/geotech-analysis/w/plaxis-soilvision-wiki/45458/plaxis-pack-project
Then, you can send the compressed folder to anyone and be sure that everything required by the project is correctly stored. You can also test it yourself.
ok I followed the video, it creates the zip file for me but it stays this for a long time and then when I go to open the file it's still empty
Can it be that the window below is somehow hidden in Windows?
I usually try the Windows key + TAB to get all windows in the tile view and click again on PLAXIS 3D.
Another reason may be that the project is on an online drive? Is that the case? Then, please first copy the project file + project folder to a local drive on your PC and then do the Pack project. Online drives sometimes depend on Internet speed and make everything slow.
Another idea is to manually compress the project folder + project file using Windows zip.
The project folder has an ending .p3dat and the project folder an extension .p3d. Both are necessary!
An academic license should not matter for packing a project, so I do not expect this to cause problems.
oh sorry maybe I wasn't clear, the pack window comes out (photo 1 ), then I press the bottom right on pack and this comes out (photo 2 ) AND I PRESS OK, then comes out the previously foto of "waiting for project ecc..." stays this for a long timebut then when I go to open the plaxis file in the file that was just created is still empty, it may be because the archive file it creates is 7zip while I use winRAR.?
On the second screenshot you can press either Exit or OK and then the Pack project window should close and the progress window will disappear.
The 7z file is considered to be 43.30MB so I am not sure why this appears to be empty afterwards when you check the file.
The 7z is another compression application like the WinRAR or WinZIP. It should not matter as Windows usually recognize all.
I would make sure that the Pack project is exited and then compare the created 7z file with the information shown before. They should match.
If anything goes wrong in the process, you need to submit a service request so that we can assist you further: https://apps.bentley.com/srmanager/ProductSupport
yes, and infact the compressed file created has a size that does not correspond to that of the file created by the pack
I am not sure why this happens.
Can you please try and do the compression yourself with any other software? Then, you can share the file with your colleagues and check if the issue persists.
It can be that you are using a version that may have a bug with 7z. If this is with our supported versions (PLAXIS CONNECT Edition V21 or V22) please let me know.
