In April 2018, we announced that SoilVision is now a part of Bentley Systems. Read the press release for the full announcement. The following FAQs provide more details to existing and potential users of SoilVision software.
How does Bentley’s ownership affect my SoilVision software?SoilVision technology will continue to be developed and supported by the SoilVision team, now able to leverage Bentley’s extensive software application catalogue and development team. Over time, SoilVision technology will integrate with Bentley’s structural and platform applications for unprecedented geo-structural engineering performance.
How does Bentley’s ownership affect support?SoilVision’ expert support service remains in place. You may continue to contact SoilVision directly for technical support and sales inquiries:

How does Bentley’s ownership affect my current maintenance plan?
In the near term, SoilVision VIP subscriptions will continue to be maintained and billed by SoilVision as they are today.
Once the necessary software integration planning is completed, the SoilVision VIP subscriptions and licensing will migrate to Bentley’s SELECT Program. We will directly contact all active subscribers to coordinate the migration activity: Bentley SELECT
What are the benefits of the Bentley SELECT program?Bentley’s SELECT program offers comprehensive benefits for your software needs, including:

What will happen to my existing SoilVision dongle licenses?Your SoilVision software will continue to be licensed through your current dongles until licensing becomes available under Bentley’s SELECT program. At that time, you will be required to return SoilVision dongles to Bentley and download the applicable versions of SoilVision products that utilize Bentley’s network licensing. One of the many benefits that Bentley SELECT licensing provides is the ability to access term licenses for most Bentley products for a month, a quarter, or year, allowing you to match your license coverage with your variable project workload needs.

I am both a Bentley and a SoilVision customer. I have many questions:
1. Who/what company will take and fill my orders and invoice me?As SoilVision is joining the Bentley team we are one team here for your support.
For SOILVISION and all other Bentley products and services you are either enjoying or wish to contract, your regular Bentley contact will fill your orders and take care of invoicing.
2. How will my EVD be calculated and when will I receive it?SOILVISION products and services have been incorporated into Bentley’s catalogue. Products and services will be incorporated into Bentley licensing programs in due course (foreseeable during 2019).
3. Will my SoilVision licenses be pool-able as are my other Bentley licenses? When?At this moment that is not possible; we strive to make that possible in due course (foreseeable during 2019)
4. Will I be able to procure leases of SoilVision? Yes you will be able to acquire SOILVISION products under a lease arrangement.
5. Are the SoilVision licenses available under a Cloud Service Subscription?SOILVISION licenses are not available under a Cloud Service Subscription; one of the many great advantages of SoilVision becoming part of Bentley is that this will be possible in the foreseeable future.
6. What will happen at my next renewal of VIP?Once up for renewal, your SOILVISION VIP agreement is automatically extended with another term unless you have given written notice to SoilVision of your wish to terminate your VIP agreement sixty (60) days in advance.
In the near term, SOILVISION VIP subscriptions will continue to be renewed, maintained and billed by SoilVision as you are used to. Once the necessary software integration planning is completed, the SOILVISION VIP subscriptions and licensing will be migrated to Bentley’s SELECT Program. We will directly contact you to coordinate this migration once the time comes.
7. What changes can I expect after 2018 in terms of how I procure and contract for SoilVision solutions, license the solutions and subscribe to VIP support?SOILVISION products and services are now a part of the Bentley catalogue and can be procured through your usual Bentley contacts.

I have enjoyed the small-company level of support from SoilVision. What can I expect going forward?Bentley puts high value on customer support since we understand, being engineers ourselves, how important and critical good and timely support is for our customers. It is therefore our aim to keep offering at least the same level of support that you have been enjoying from SoilVision so far.
Will I still have access to the same SoilVision team to support my company?By becoming part of a larger company, the SoilVision team will join a larger team of colleagues. The benefit to you as our customer is, that the SoilVision team is still there but now even enforced with many more colleagues ready to support you. Murray Fredlund continues to be employed by Bentley Canada and is continuing to provide strategic leadership in the geotechnical software development.
I have heard that Bentley’s SELECT licensing does not restrict usage and that Bentley sends an invoice (sometimes unexpectedly) when actual software usage exceeds what has been contracted. What is the nature of this? How do I avoid such “surprises”?For the moment, SOILVISION products will continue to be available under SOILVISION licensing. They will be incorporated into Bentley licensing programs in due course (foreseeable in the course of 2019), at which time the then current SELECT licensing mechanisms will be fully explained.
