The Bentley CONNECTION Client is the heart of the Subscription Entitlement Service Licensing system on any workstation.
When any Bentley CONNECT application such as PLAXIS 2D or PLAXIS 3D is installed, a CONNECTION Client is included and installed/updated as part of the installation. This provides the mechanism for the Bentley applications to operate against your company settings.
Once installed, you will need to sign in to the Connection Client. See CONNECTION Client Sign in for more details about signing in.
In addition to providing the mechanism for managing licenses for your Bentley software, the CONNECTION Client is the mechanism used to provide you with notifications relating to cloud services, software updates, CONNECT Projects and a gateway to the Bentley cloud portal.
It is a prerequisite that the CONNECTION Client is installed, and you are signed in to operate any application that is licensed with Subscription Entitlement Service. It is only when this is operational that your company can manage the use of the software and notify potential excessive use by setting thresholds.
