Pulse load on a multi layer system: Comparison with spectral elements

    Application PLAXIS 2D
    PLAXIS 3D
    Version PLAXIS 2D
    PLAXIS 3D
    Date created 02 January 2013
    Date modified 02 January 2013

This document describes an example that has been used to verify the dynamic response of a multi layer system due to a transient load pulse. For such a system, no analytical solution exists. For verification, the computational results of PLAXIS are compared with those obtained from a semi-analytical technique using the 'spectral element method' (Al-Khoury, Scarpas, Kasbergen & Blauwendraad, 2001).

    Used version:

    • PLAXIS 2D: 2018.00 | 2016.01 | 2015.02
    • PLAXIS 3D: 2018.00 | 2016.01 | AE.01

     This requires a dynamics module
