Issue #14664
Date created14 June 2011
Date modified24 October 2016

Problem description

When doing a consolidation analysis in 2D2010’s Classical mode, the calculation stops and the calculation marker in the calculation list is still a grey arrow, indicating it is not calculated.

The cause for this could be the interface on the model boundary: when it is deactivated, this results in an very unexpected error and an uncalculated phase.

Solution

In order to fix it for your project in 2D2010, please open the phase that does not calculate. Go to staged construction via the Define button in the Parameter tab. Next, go to water mode and activate the interface (it should become orange). Please be aware that such in interface will become impermeable for groundwater flow and consolidation.

Another option would be to draw a dummy cluster around the interface and apply a (dummy) material to this dummy cluster. Then make sure to deactivate this new cluster in all your phases. Please take care of applying the correct boundary conditions and the mesh quality (you need to regenerate the mesh).
