Problem description

When trying to generate a (new) chart, the PLAXIS 2D2010.01 Output program may, in some cases, give an error: “An error occured in the application”.

The reason for this failure is that in the project the number of phases have been modified by deleting one or more phases. When retrieving data for the selected nodes/stress points that were selected after the calculation was finished (the post-calc nodes/stress points), the Output program cannot find the correct phase reference, with the mentioned error as a result.

Solution

To work around this issue, the user should restart the PLAXIS 2D Output program load the results again and remove any post-calc selected nodes:

  1. Start the curves manager
  2. Open the tab called Curve points
  3. Now remove all the nodes and stress points labeled 'Post-calc'
  4. Now it is possible again to generate curves

These post-calc selected nodes/stress points cannot be added to the project again. In order to use the results from these nodes/stress points, these have to be selected prior to the calculation, selected via the Select points for curves option in the calculations program. Then, the entire project needs to be recalculated.

This has been fixed since PLAXIS 2D 2011.00.
