When using the Forces view tool from the Tools menu for a 2D axisymmetric model, it appears that the horizontal forces are not in equilibrium. The reason for this is that the Forces View only takes the stresses in the model plane (the radial force) into account for the stress integration.
For axisymmetric models, this means that the hoop stresses, and especially the projection on Output’s X-axis (radial direction), are not taken into account to determine the total horizontal forces. This gives the impression that the model is not in equilibrium in the horizontal direction.
For the above-mentioned reason, the Forces view option in the Tools menu is disabled for axisymmetric models.
