Problem description

In PLAXIS 2D, you can apply a volume strain on clusters. Since PLAXIS 2D 2012 it is now also possible to apply an anisotropic strain in a cluster:

Now, when loading a PLAXIS 2D 2011.02 project (or earlier) in PLAXIS 2D2012.0 in which volume strains are defined for clusters, the program needs to convert this data into the format for PLAXIS 2D2012.

However, when the regional settings of the computer are set to use a comma as decimal separator, the program will show an error like in the image below about a floating point value, and the project cannot be opened.

Solution

The simplest solution for this problem is to temporarily change your regional settings (available via the Windows Control Panel) to have the dot “.” as decimal separator. Then load the project in PLAXIS 2D2012 and save it. After closing the program, and resetting the comma as decimal separator, it is possible to open the project in PLAXIS 2D2012.

This issue is solved since PLAXIS 2D2012.01
