Date created12 April 2013
Date modified24 October 2016

Problem description

A new feature since PLAXIS 2D 2012 is a result plot with the Plastic Point history: this plot that can show per plastic point type, if a node has ever been a plastic point in the current step or in a previous step.

However, plotting one of the Plastic Points History plots in a report is not possible (the normal Plastic Points plot itself can be added to a report though): during the report generation, the program will respond with the following error:
Plastic Point values cannot be calculated for soil nodes.

Solution

This issue is now solved since PLAXIS 2D 2015.00.

For older versions, although this type of plot cannot be selected directly for the report generation, there is a workaround available:

  1. Select the desired plastic point history plot (e.g. Plastic point history: Failure)
  2. Now add this to the saved views using the the Save View button icon ( ) or via the menu View > Save view
  3. Give this plot a nice name so it is easy to recognize, e.g. History of failure plastic points
  4. Now, generate the report, and do not select any of the Plastic Point History options in step 4 of the Report generator.
  5. In step 6 of the report generator, select the view you just created.
  6. Now the report can be generated.
