In PLAXIS 2D AE the calculation types Plastic, Consolidation and Safety allow for the use of Updated mesh and possibly in addition the use of Updated water pressure. With an updated mesh calculation the coordinates of the nodes are updated in each step while taking into account the geometry change of the mesh on the equilibrium conditions (so called: large deformation theory). As a result of the use of the updated mesh functionality parts of the model may for example become submerged during the calculation, where at the start of the calculation these parts were not. As a result of the submerging these parts of the model may experience a buoyancy force and/or external water pressures. To take into account these additional effects the user should select the Updated water pressure option from the Phases menu, besides the Updated mesh option.
Unfortunately due to a kernel issue the updated water pressures are not taken into account in the calculation of PLAXIS 2D AE.00 even though the Updated water pressure is selected. Note that the updated mesh option is working correct.
This issue is now solved in PLAXIS 2D AE.01
