Problem description

The Design approaches-feature is a useful tool to apply partial factors to material dataset parameters and load values according to a design approach, e.g., Eurocode 7. However, in PLAXIS 2D AE, the partial load factor is incorrectly not applied to the bending moment (M) as part of the PointLoad-object.

Solution

This issue is now solved since PLAXIS 2D 2015.00

As a workaround in PLAXIS 2D AE:

• the design value for the bending moment input value should be defined manually: the bending moment (M) value should be manually set to the design value ( = input value * partial load factor).
• Or do not apply a load factor to a point load with bending moment and set all values (Fx, Fy and M) manually to the design values. Note, this can prevent conflicts for later PLAXIS versions when this issue is fixed.
