All dongle/hardware lock (HWL) based versions of PLAXIS 2D/3D are treated as "V8i SELECTseries 10" according to Bentley's Support Policy. This means that Bentley will discontinue support for hardware lock based versions of PLAXIS after December 31, 2021. This includes PLAXIS 2D 2019 and older, and PLAXIS 3D 2018 and older.

To see the benefits of the latest versions and how to get the latest version, please see PLAXIS CONNECT Edition: upgrade from Hardware lock to Flexible licensing

Background

With the release of PLAXIS 2D AE and PLAXIS 3D 2013, the data format and data specifications were updated to allow for a more robust and flexible data structure, especially for pore pressures data. Reading in PLAXIS results made with older versions (2D2012/Classic and earlier, 3D2012 and earlier) is no longer possible due to this incompatible data format.

Whenever results are read in that are not compatible with the current Output program, the PLAXIS Output program will give a warning why this fails.

OLD_PROJECT; CODE=xx

When the project has been created using an older, incompatible version of PLAXIS 2D or PLAXIS 3D. To view the results for this project file, use an older version of PLAXIS Output.
Here, xx refers to the internal file version.

For projects made with PLAXIS 3D2012 or earlier, please use the Output version attached below.

NEW_PROJECT; CODE=xx

When the project has been created using a newer, incompatible version of PLAXIS 2D or PLAXIS 3D. To view the results for this project file, use a newer version of PLAXIS Output.
Here, xx refers to the internal file version.

OTHER_PRODUCT

Whenever a PLAXIS 2D project will be opened using PLAXIS 3D Output  (and vice-versa). Please use the original Output program of the corresponding PLAXIS version, i.e.

LEGACY

Legacy projects are PLAXIS 2D files made with PLAXIS 2D Version 8 and Version 9. Please use PLAXIS 2D Classic’s Output program (or earlier versions) to view the results for these files.

OPI

The PLAXIS Output program needs a special data file to show the results. This data file, called data.opi contains relevant and crucial information. When this is missing, the error referring to OPI will be shown.
This happens when trying to see results from e.g. PLAXIS 3DFoundation, PLAXIS-GiD and PlaxFlow.

UNSUPPORTED

This error will be shown for projects and data that is not properly recognized.

Solution for seeing older results

In order to view results made with an older version that is no longer supported by this version’s Output program, please use that older version. You can obtain such an older Output version in several ways:
