Problem description

PLAXIS 2D CONNECT Edition V22 brings both a major overhaul to the data structure of the material database and a more flexible and more robust way to handle project units. While loading PLAXIS project files that were last saved in an older version, PLAXIS 2D will convert the data to comply with the new format and structure.

For projects that include design approaches, during the conversion process from V21 to V22, all the defined design approaches and the material factors, as well as the assignment of design approaches in the Phases and Staged construction, are converted. However, the assignment of the material factor labels to the material model parameters are not carried over and therefore the user will need to re-assign these material factor labels.

The PLAXIS 2D conversion routine does not provide this information of removed material factor labels linked to material parameters when loading such an older PLAXIS file that contains Design Approach assignments to material parameters.

Note this only happens when loading files saved in older versions of PLAXIS. For files saved in PLAXIS 2D CONNECT Edition V22, this problem does not occur.

Solution

This is now solved in PLAXIS 2D CONNECT Edition V22 Update 1 (released May 2022).

When continuing the older PLAXIS 2D analysis in the PLAXIS 2D CONNECT Edition Version 22.00, please check the assignments of the Design Approach material label (partial factors) to each relevant material parameter.

Alternatively, you can also continue to use PLAXIS 2D CONNECT Edition Version 21 Update 1. PLAXIS 2D CONNECT Edition Version 21 and Version 22 can be installed side-by-side.
