Model explorer in PLAXIS

In PLAXIS Input, the Model explorer displays information related to all the entities composing the model. All modifications, such as creating a new polygon or a plate, are automatically updating the Model explorer data.

An important component of any finite element analysis is the materials used to simulate the soil, rock and structural behaviour. The Model explorer also contains information about the materials used in a specific project.

Materials in the Model Explorer

The materials used in a model can be viewed in the Model explorer, under the Attribute library. You can easily expand the tree view and locate all the available materials, alphabetically ordered, and their properties as can be seen in Figures 2 and 3.

Within the Model explorer, it is possible to directly configure and edit any available material property. You can simply navigate to the relevant material and expand the relevant tree. To configure or edit any material property, you can select the relevant field and use the keyboard or the mouse to provide input.
When making any change to the material properties, you will notice a command being executed in the PLAXIS command line session.

For more information on the material properties, you check the details in the Command reference under Help menu.
