Problem description

PLAXIS 2D can generate a project report after the calculation using the Report generator feature in PLAXIS Output. The report can include input settings, results, plots, curves and material information.

However, if a project includes a Plate or an Anchor object and more than one object of such has a different material type (Fig. 1) and the report includes the option “Material information” (Fig. 2), the program will encounter an error when it is generated. This is due to the fact that one object does not contain the same set of properties as the other.

For example, a project contains three plates and the material types of these plates are set as Elastic and Elastoplastic. This will cause an error when we generate the report including the Material information option selected. This error does not occur for other types of structural objects, i.e., Geogrids, Embedded beams, and Cable bolts.

Solution/Workaround

This issue is fixed in PLAXIS 2023.1.

A simple way to avoid this error is to set the material type of all plates or anchors the same, e.g., Elastoplastic. Sufficiently high strength will be applied for elements using the Elastoplastic type that has been switched from the Elastic type to make sure it still works under elasticity.
If the material information is not needed in the report, you can deselect the option and the report will be generated without any issue.
