Problem description

In some cases, when you try to open a project in Monopile Designer after converting it to a newer version, the application may take too long to start, hang or encounter an issue and generate a bug report.

Solution

Method #1: Update Bentley CONNECTION Client

Make sure you have the latest version of Bentley CONNECTION Client and that you are signed in. You can update to the latest version via:

Method #2: Read-only project

Assuming that the issue occurs when trying to open an older project, then you must follow the steps below:

  1. If the location of the PLAXIS Monopile Designer project contains a folder named: XXX_converted.plxmdat (where XXX is the project’s name), please delete this folder.
  2. Right-click on the original project (e.g. XXX.plxmdat) and select Properties.
  3. Make sure to deactivate the “Read-only” attribute if it is selected and click OK.

Method #3: Clear the Windows TEMP folder

Another suggestion is to clear the Windows TEMP folder.

Temporary files are files that your operating system only needed to exist temporarily while in use of any application. To delete any left-over temporary files from a previous Monopile Designer session, you can follow the instructions below:

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key (WIN) + R keys at the same time.
  2. In the Open field, type %temp%, then press ENTER. The temp folder will open.

  3. Press the CTRL + A keys simultaneously to select all items.

  4. Press the DELETE key, and then click Yes when Window's User Account Control window appears to confirm.

  5. After deleting the temporary files in Windows, click to start PLAXIS Monopile Designer.
