Problem description

Groups that are created in PLAXIS green modes were lost when reloading the project. The PLAXIS green modes are Mesh mode, Flow conditions, and Staged construction.

Workaround

This issue is now solved in PLAXIS 2D/3D 2023.2.1.

In the above-mentioned affected versions, the only workaround is to create the necessary groups in Structures mode.

However, for groups that include elements produced/generated after the geometry has been intersected in green mode, this is not applicable.

The workaround for such cases is:

  1. Copy the PLAXIS command to a notepad that is executed when grouping different geometrical objects, and whenever reloading the project is required, run those commands in the commands runner under the expert menu or through the keyboard shortcut CTRL+F9. This will optimize the process of having to group the geometrical entities every time you need to reload the project.
For further information regarding this tool, please refer to Practical use of the commands runner

For example, the PLAXIS command for creating a group in Staged construction containing objects Point_1_1, Line_1_1 and Line_1_2 is:
    group (Point_1_1 Line_1_1 Line_1_2)
  2. When applicable, manually intersect the necessary geometry for the group in Structures mode and create the group before switching to the green modes.
