Hi
We have recently begun experiencing some rather severe problems with the gINT software which we have not been able to resolve. Starting in January 2019, apparently in conjunction with a Windows update, we starting seeing full tables of data (eg Abandonment table ) disappeared from our project database files, gone forever. We tried to open the files using old software MS Access, DB, third party file converters etc and the results was the same. No table, no data at all. As of yesterday, we have started losing report templates and graphics codes from our library files. This not only affects our ability to use the software to prepare logs and graphics for reports, but it will affect our ability to access all of our historical databases as well.
Have you experienced similar issues? Any help is apricated.
Thank you,
Bulent Hatipoglu
Hi Bulent,
We worked with Microsoft to find a resolution for users. They released an update in February that resolved this issue. You need to install that update. Please see our blog post here:https://communities.bentley.com/products/geotechnical1/b/geoblog/posts/fix-for-gint-users-affected-by-the-january-8-microsoft-patch-has-been-released
At the time we learned that it had to do with gINT databases that had fields with more than 32 characters in the name. We recommended to users to go to gINT's system properties and check the option to "Suppress Automatic File Compaction" option under gINT's System Properties as the file compression could cause data loss as you are describing. We also recommended that users not perform a manual "Repair and Compact" in gINT as that could also lead to data loss with the Microsoft January 2019 patch.
The data in the tables may be lost unless you have backups saved somewhere, such as on a server backup. Or you have gINT's Automatic File Backups capability enabled.
Before you open additional projects, I recommend you do make a copy before opening it until you know you have installed the February patch, and verify it is working.
If you have additional questions, please reach out.
Regards,
Katie
That's the answer we were looking for. Thank you so much.
