Windows 10 and gINT

Just a heads up to you all. I have installed gINT (latest build 08.30.04.220) under the Windows 10 64bit Enterprise preview, that I downloaded this morning. I'm running said Windows 10 in a virtual PC. gINT installs fine apart from the .NET Framework 3.5 The gINT installation routine won't have any of it, and won't automatically download it from the interweb either.

There is a little bit of software written for Windows 8 to install the NET 3.5 stuff from the Windows 8 disk. I've tried it and it also installs NET 3.5 for Windows 10. Below is a link to the software:-

Anyway, after a brief muck around gINT appears to be working, but I'll give it go in anger tomorrow.

Happy gINTing :-)

  • Well, I've had a chance to throw some CAD files at the Site Map tab, and output some site maps, I've started a new project and entered / edited some data etc and all appears fine. There does appear to be a speed increase in gINT under Windows 10. It feels more responsive in the Site Map and Drawings tabs. This may be due to the Virtual PC I'm using only having gINT and Draftsight installed. However, the virtual PC has only got 1 processor and 4GB RAM, whereas my PC that's running the virtual PC AND gINT normally, has 2 x 8 core processors and 16GB Ram so that should more than make up for the extra stuff it has installed. I shall add more when I have had a chance to do more.

    Happy gINTing :-)
