Targetting Specific Zones in Logs

Hi there,

I'm trying to generate some well logs, but above the screen zone is just open hole and I want to be able to display just the screen zone on my log. Is there a way this can be done without showing the entire hole depth?

The screen zone is from 250 m to 260 m depth and I just want to display this on the log and not the 250 m of open hole above it.

Cheers,

Jim

  • Hi Jim,

Yes there are a couple of ways you can do this.

1.If it is just a one time item you can select in output the report properties and set the top and / or bottom of the report output. Goto OUTPUT ..pick your report then click on the properties button ..report structure tab and manually type in the top depth you want the log to start at  and/or the bottom depth you want it to end. You would need to do this for each output.

Set the top and or bottom

    2. If you want to make a permanent change to the report to automate the process you can do this in report design. goto  report design ..pick your report and click on the properties button. I this case you can reference a field (see example) in your database where you had typed in the screen zone top or if you can calculate it from the data you can write an expression to calculate it Many options to customize to automate. Remember this is just an example . You would need to write your own expression or calculation.

  • Hi David,

Thank you, this helped greatly. For anyone else that may have this question in future, it's also important that in the Output>Properties>Report Structure tab that you specify a depth interval under <<Depth Units Page 1>>, otherwise the log will only display your specified range of depths, but the page length will be your entire well length.
