The 32-bit version of Office, instead of 64-bit, is installed on my computer per my company's policy.
When I attempt to connect to a gINT database using the OpenRoads Designer Geotechnical tools I get the error message shown below:
Switching to a 64-bit Version of Office is not an option for us here. Is there an alternate solution for connecting directly to the gINT database?
MJM,
gINT uses Microsoft Access Database and it requires to have Microsoft Access Database 2010 64 bit installed. Ideal option is to use the 64 bit version of Microsoft Office. But in an event this option is not available, this article talks about the steps to resolve this:
Hi MJM,
I have been in a similar situation for the last 6 months. My company uses 32 bit Office and there is no scope for change. The /passive install worked fine for a day, then Microsoft 64bit updates were automatically installed the next day which corrupted all of Office!
My workaround is to install Microsoft SQL Server Express, then using gINT Pro Plus create an Enterprise/SQL version of your project. You should then be able to connect gINT Civil Tools/ OR Geotechnical Tools to the SQL database on your machine.
The downside to this process is that a second version of your gINT project is stored on your C: drive so not available to anyone else. Any changes to the "master" gpj will also need to be mirrored in your local SQL version.
Hope this helps. Rob
