I want to find out the depth at which my boreholes intercept a surface and output an excel sheet with POINT and interception depth for each of 30 points. From the help docs i'm not entirely sure that gINT allows surfaces to be interrogated this way, does anyone know if this should be possible?

It can be done by gINT Rules. I developed an add-in to write the result in a field, typically a field on POINT. (https://www.datgel.com/datgel-dgd-tool-surface-alignment-coordinate-tools#SetElevationTool).
