How to calculate if sample meets standard highway specifications based on lab data

Question

I am looking for a way to use gint to calculate if samples meet Alaska Standard Highway Specifications based on lab results for Gradation, LA Abrasion, and Degradation. I currently export the lab data to excell to determine if samples meet these standards. Ideally a graphic table with this output would be most useful. Even a generic template with differing standards would be a useful template.

Hi Tim, Please send me an e-mail and we can look at what you are doing in excel to see if there is something that you could do in gINT to match. The Grain size graph report does give you the ability to add a Specification envelope and you can use built in functions to show the data in a table. Unfortunately this feature and those functions are not well documented, but I would be happy to walk you through. There are quite a few steps to get it all the way to how the report shown below looks. In the SYMBOL DESIGN Gradation Spec application opens a dialog that allows you to define a new gradation specification, associating Presentation Properties like Fill Symbol, Line weight and color, and Data Markers to a particular gradation by name, The name is assigned in the General tab of this dialog. You then can create a field in the sieve table with a lookup to the specification you created in symbol design In the Graph Report goto properties dialog, on the Data Representation tab, you would use the Gradation Specification Expression property. This is where you would specify a field where the specification is stored in your project. For example, as "Gradation Specification" in the SIEVE table. The Gradation Specification Expression property would then contain <>.This references a field in your database that calls the Gradation Spec.In the database field properties with the specification a lookup to the "Graphic!gradspec" lookup so that you can select from what have created in your library. Using the Functions you can use then in a table (see Below Image) to pull the information. These are functions available Graph_GradSpec_Name is a new System Data Item (available from the right side of the Data Tool) that returns the name of the gradation specification used on a graph report. GradSpecDesc, GradSpecNumRecs, GradSpecByRecord, GradSpecBySize , and GradSpecPointOutsideSpec are System Functions that return information about a particular gradation specification. These data and functions can be used to build data in a table from the existing data, eliminating the need for redundant data in a project to specify such envelopes.. You can end up with a grain size report that looks something like this using these techniques in a report. If this is something that interests you send me an e-mail and we can go through it.
