PDF Export - default scale settings

How do I make the "Print to Scale" the default setting on the printer set-up. It is currently defaulting to "Fit to Page' and that seems to chop off the top and bottom frame on my logs?

  • You should use the built in PDF exporter, not a PDF printer driver

  • By the built in PDF exporter I assume you mean the "export" button on the upper right hand side of the output tab? That's what I use to generate PDFs.

This problem just started happening to me in the last month or two. My colleague has had this trouble for over a year. If I don't change the print setting to "Print to Scale" the output trims off the top and bottom of the page when I export.

It only affects the logs (lab testing reports are OK).

I would like to make it the permanent setting, but it always defaults back to "Fit to Page". Perhaps there is more correct fix (Do I need to change/update the built-in pdf export driver?)

  • Yes, that  is what I meant, but I didn't think printer settings affected that. Hopefully one of the Bentley folks can chime in with that help.

Another thing to check in the meantime is to look at the "Log Report Properties" in Report Design and make sure the Page Size and Orientation are what you expect, and that the printable area outlined by the dashed lines on the screen cover the full log. I had a problem in the past where the default printer on my AA's computer had been set to a label maker that did not support 8.5x11, so the print area kept reverting to A4 size and the full log was not printing.
