2nd Data Markers (Multiple Plots) do not show on plot

Hello,

I'm having trouble getting my 2nd Data Marker to show in the plot on the right. The first data (DCPT - triangles) shows but the second data (SPT - squares) does not. However, I can see that the program does recognize that there is a 2nd Data. Take a look in the image below. You can see that the program recognizes that there is a 2nd Data (SPT) at 3.1 m and 6.2 m because it shows the circled arrows indicating that their markers are off the scale. Yet when I expand the scale, this data does not show at 60 - see second image.

Yet SPT markers are not showing when I expand the scale:

I've also attached an image of the Report Design page, Column Plot vs Depth Properties chart showing the tab for Multiple Plots. Everything in the tab makes sense, and I've done this exact same scenario with other libraries, yet with this one the 2nd data does not show.

I'd really appreciate any advice!

Thanks!

James

  • This may not be the issue, but you may want to try and reinstall your microsoft access database engine. I have had some strange problems that ended up being caused by that (such as project data not plotting on a fence diagram title block). As an aside, your data expression is just the 3rd blows (SPT should be 2nd +3rd blows)?

  • Here are some suggestions that I would use to debug a problem like this.

    1. Change the data marker color override to a distinct color (rather than by layer).  Sometimes it is plotting but may not be where you would expect or may be plotting as a white color. Making it a distinct color helps find where it is plotting. Also, making the data markers bigger sometimes helps me find what is going on when the point is plotting but is hiding under another element.

    2. Add a temporary text vs depth column in the margin of the log with the expression used in the plot as the text.  Might surprise you what the expression is actually outputting.  If blows fields are text type and contain refusal criteria such as 60/0.3 the results can be unexpected. As William said, current expression of <<Sample.BLOWS 3rd>> seems very unusual.

    3. Check the depth expression in the main tab.  If data is coming from two different tables you may have to use a generic <<Depth>> expression for the multi plot to work.

    4. Add plot vs depth entity (a separate entity, not a column entity or build a column entity) at the same x coordinate and width as the current column entity (set the y coordinate to a value that will place it below the current column entity in your report design window so it is easy to distinguish from the column and select for editing).  Set the color of this to a different distinct color, with a large marker size and set all the parameters the same as in the column multi plot.  If this does not output as expected you need to debug this first then look at your multiplot.
