Our company is currently running gINT Professional Plus 10.02.00.04 with the dependency of the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 issue. We have tried to use the latest version on your website but we have found it to be unstable and crashes unexpectedly. Over the past 6 months to a year we have been noticing other application starting to step on each other. As an example if we install or upgrade Watergems on the same machine, gINT will give a ‘run time error 48’. The fix is to reinstall gINT and the 2010 DB Engine after WaterGems so the Access DB engine repairs.
The nature of the is question is we all understand that OpenGround is the next evolution. The concern that we have is we all know gINT will be around for a while as well. Can Bentley release a version of gINT that addresses the need for ‘special’ 2010 DB engine? I am sure others in the community would agree.
“ Hi Todd , hope you are well. To answer your question “ Can Bentley release a version of gINT that addresses the need for ‘special’ 2010 DB engine? “, the answer is unfortunately no. We need a 32 bit version of the Access engine, we have raised a ST to Microsoft and presented our needs to their developers and product team ( MS Access ) without success, they told us just about a year ago that they carefully reviewed that and would not support 2 versions ( x64 and x32 ) running side by side. Also, we noticed by that the 2016 x32 engine tends to cause more issues with Office x64 than the 2010 engine.
Because WaterGems also happens to require the Microsoft Access Database engine it can cause a conflict with the gINT 2010 32-bit Access database engine. This may require installing in a particular order or Manually installing it Silently. In the case where you cannot repair the Access Database engine the easiest option is to let gINT install it Silently.
