Changing the color of a symbol in report design

I need to change the color of a symbol in my log to match the color output by a bar chart vs depth element.

The issue is that in the bar chart vs depth element on my logs the data is plotted as a rectangle filled with red cross hatching. Above this on the key to my log the corresponding key (RQD) is followed by a box with BLACK cross hatching. I need the box appearing after the RQD% text to have RED cross hatching.

I have attached the properties for each element. It appears that the box following the RQD text appears via a <<DMK!89>> function. I do not know what this function does and I cannot find any properties that change the color of this feature. I have attached figures to help show the problem.

^Fig 1. The circled box needs to have red cross hatching like the lower box with the arrow pointing to it.

^ Fig 2. Same log section in report view.

^Fig 3. Properties for text element in key. The <<DMK!89>> makes the square block with cross hatching appear.

^Bar chart (RQD) properties that cause the bar chart to have red cross hatching (what I need the box in the text element to emulate).

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

  • As I stated earlier, you need to make 2 separate text entities.  Easiest way is to copy the existing one and offset it a bit.

first text entity would then just have the RQD text and the color property set to black as in the picture below

Second would have just the data marker with color property set to red (I used light red to make it show up better) see picture below

This produces the output in the picture below.

You will use your data marker expression and library.  This is an example in a test report, do not pay attention to other elements in the report.

There are other ways to do this but this seems the most straightforward to me. Hope this helps
