The Help for my gINT v8, says the following:
Can I Sort Columns in Data Input, Library Data, or Lookup Lists? (faqs)
Yes, there is a Sort on current column command in Input, Data Design?Library Data, Data Design?Lookup Lists, and Data Design?User System Data. You will find this under the Edit menu. The short cut is Ctrl+Alt+S. In Input and Library Data, the sort is temporary. That is, on saving and returning, the records are again sorted by the key field (Depth, Date/Time, or Reading). With Lookup Lists and User System Data, the sort will remain. Once sorted you can use this command to help find empty fields, help find records in grids with many records, to help discern patterns in the data, and use this command to print the data from Input in certain sorting orders. The later can also be done by setting up a table template and performing a sort at output time but, using the Sort command and print in Input is much faster.
If the column has already been sorted in ascending order invoking the Sort on current command a second time sorts the column in descending order.
Note that you can also sort by clicking on the column header.
I suggest supplementing this by indicating that for tables having hidden counters, Ctrl+Alt+S, or Column Header click will not have any effect. If one wishes to be able to sort by Column, one must uncheck the "Hidden Counters" option in Data Design for the project to expose the counter, and then the Ctrl+Alt+S and the Column Heading click-to-sort will "work".This can be important before printing for example stress-strain curves, where at times the max load and its associated deflection is input out of order because it has been imported from another data file and then supplemented with additional data. Yes, there may be some manual manipulation of the counters ( changing them after the deflections are sorted ascending) but that can be done because the counters are exposed. Note: if the counters are not ascending alos then your stress strain plot will plot "janky". ["Janky" - an engineering term meaning incorrectly]
