KMaughan asked: Has the ability to modify/suppress/clip the graphics in a variable legend been added to gINT? I'm interested in clipping; we have a variable legend for describing the materials used in well construction, but we don't need to see the hole or the screen in the legend graphics. We just want to show the backfill material with the description and the depth interval.
ANSWER: The purpose of the Variable Legend entity is to automatically present in the legend the graphic symbols used in the report -- it will show all the graphic symbols of the type selected, without modification. So while you can clip the graphic column in the body of a report, the legend will report the unclipped graphic if it is created as a Variable Legend. You can always create a legend manually to do exactly what you want, though, including presenting a clipped version of the graphic. If you Search for "clipping" in the gINT Help topics, the first 15 or so topics that come up are directly related to clipping graphic entities. See specifically the Clip % Left and Clip % Right -- both Properties and From -- topics.
What Pat sugests is exactly what I have done for my well log. The composite symbol is used to construct the well graphic and I have manualy created a master legend on the report form that shows the pipe symbols and backfill symbols separately. See the following example.
