Hello,
Can anyone confirm whether the 'prompt' command works across the output report range?
It seems to work on Fences but not on Graphs.
Any help would be gratefully received, thanks
Jaffa
Hi Jaffa
I've never used the prompt command. I guess this will display a form with a text box at the beginning of report generation.
Instead I utilize User Report Variables, they allow you to define data types, lookups, colours etc. A rich GUI for you to exploit in order to configure a user friendly set of options for users to configure. URV are available in all 9 report types.

Get the most out of gINT with Datgel Tools.
Thanks, Phil
As you say, it produced a form in which data could be entered into reports - useful if, say, running many similar plots with different stratum filters (adding the stratum into the report titles).
In the old days, I used to use Prompt but it seems to have stopped working (and cause the report generation to stop working as well) for graphs.
I will now use the USR although I'm still puzzled as to why it doesn't seem to work any more.
Thanks again for your comments
Like Phil, I have mostly used the User Report Variable, which prompts the user once to enter a value that will be used for the entire report run. The only advantage I see in a prompt command is that it allows the user (via PromptEachPage) to re-enter values for each new page of output.
Jaffa, if you have a library with a Graph report containing a PromptEachPage command that used to work in an older version of gINT, and that identical report fails in the new version of gINT, you could help us to resolve the issue by reporting it to Technical Support with a copy of tha library.
Thanks, Pat
When I started using gINT, I only ever used the Prompt (not PromptEachPage) command because there was only 1 change per graph (generally).
Maybe it is not worth pursuing but............I have set up a graph template from scratch and it works OK. When I add a <<Prompt>> command into the template, the graph does not work, returning the following: -
Subscript out of range
(OutputAppGraph.OutMainFnB)
(DataExtract)
I don't have an old library that contains a working template. If you think that I should report the fact that the Prompt command does not work (in Graphs) I can do this.
I will, in future, only use the URV command as it seems to work across all reports.
Jaffa, I would be interested to know in which entity or report property you used the Prompt command. I think it would be a good idea to report it to Tech Support, with a copy of the library (or at least the Graph Report form that gave you the error). The error message sounds like it may not be recognizing the Prompt command as the "supply line" for a piece of required information.

I was trying to enter just a line of report specific TEXT (depending on the filter chosen during the OUTPUT operation.
I tried a random graph plot of Cu against depth with and without the Prompt. Without the Prompt command, no problem running the graph - with the Prompt command, the error message as mentioned before.
I will report the issue as suggested and see what comes of it - I hope it is not 'user error'!?
