Hello all,
For some reason, every time I start gINT now, it gives me a "fatal error, path/file error". I followed the instruction elsewhere on this forum for going into AppData/Local/Bentley/gINT and deleting the setup.gsh file, which gINT then recreates when you reopen it. That works.
Problem is: I have to delete the setup file EVERY TIME I restart gINT! That means none of my settings, file paths, or preferences are saved. Very annoying.
Can anyone recommend a solution? I've followed the Datgel website pdf that outlines the security settings needed, and I've made those adjustments, but still the setup file appears to be corrupt/inaccessible each time I restart gINT. It can't be inaccessible because gINT is able to write a new setup file each time I delete the old one and then open gINT, so the setup file must be being corrupted each time I close gINT. Right? Maybe?
Thanks!
Mike
Mike, there may be a problem with data being written to the setup file from one of the databases (including the library).
I suggest you go into gINT UTILTIES>Repair/Compact Databases, and select Library and Current Project. Do not select Setup for this test.
Leave the other defaults in place and click Execute. If there is a large difference between the original size and the compacted size of the files, click Execute again to rerun the utility with the same Library and Current Project selected. When the difference is small or there is no difference, exit gINT and relaunch.
If the Setup.gsh file still has to be regenerated, there is a different issue. In that case, I recommend you contact Bentley Technical Support for help.
Ah yes, the beloved repair/compact database! I just did it, Pat. It did not fix the problem. I'll contact Bentley and post the result here.
Just spoke with Bentley. My version of Vista is having exotic permissions issues with the directory that the setup.gsh file is being stored in. So I can write to it, but not read it somehow. Our IT department couldn't fix it because it appears that I have full permissions.
Still looking for a resolution.
