Can anyone point me in the direction of any technical support for the 'Point orientation support' option in gINT professional plus v8i ?
This web page: http://docs.bentley.com/en/gINT/What_is_New_in_Version_v8i/What_is_new_in_Version_v8i_-_Input.htm breifly explains what it is for but I want to know what I can do with the data in this table. I can't find anything else on the internet nor in gINT help.
Can I automatically calculate the east, north and level of a test or sample expressed as a length along the borehole ? If so, how ?
Thanks
Steve
Steve, If you have turned on Point Orientation Support in the Additional Modules, you have a table in your database to record orientation data.
The ElevFromDepth, EastAtDepth and NorthAtDepth functions will appropriately deal with the presence or absence of this orientation data. Depth is always distance along the hole, and is not affected by the hole's orientation or deviation from vertical.
Steve,
The "Point Orientation" topic in the current gINT Help file discusses the "Point Orientation Support" option.
It goes into some detail about deviated boreholes.
Hi Pat and Dave
Many thanks for the response.
Dave, I have gINT 8.30.02.39 loaded. I cannot find anything about 'Point orientation' in the help menu. Please could you give me further guidance on where to find the topic you mentioned ???? Many thanks
I was afraid of that. Bentley posted an update to the Help file around the end of June 2011. Your build was released on May 9th, 2011.
I will email you a PDF of that topic from the Help file.
Dave
Can I download the help file from anywhere or is there a more recent update for gINT ?
As far as I am aware Bentley does not offer a way to just download the current gINT Help file.
(Pat, is there a way to get just the gINT Help file?).
Regarding a more recent copy of gINT than the one that you are running, yes Bentley has posted a number of updates since your copy was posted a year ago. But, your options depend upon what licensing package you have with Bentley. I can't help you there, you can send an inquiry to gINT Tech Support and they can point you in the right direction. You are in Hong Kong so I don't know if your sales rep is on your side of the Pacific or on this side.
(Pat, any other suggestions?).
