For the job I am currently working on, I have to describe every little change in stratigraphy. We have chosen to group our discriptions by Sleeve. This makes for some very long descriptions.
I have noticed that the last few lines some of my descriptions have been disappearing mid sentence. Any clue what is causing this?
It is hard to tell without a look at the output, or the report design properties, but one thing that occurs to me is that if you have very long descriptions that may run past the bottom of the range they apply to, there is a Wrap property of the column entity that may be incorrectly set:
The Text not pushed down by text above checkbox should be OFF in this case. That is the default setting, but it may have been set ON for some reason.
If resetting this Wrap property does not work, or it is already set to OFF, you may need to contact Bentley Tech Support for assistance with the issue.
I try it and my discriptions from one unit overlaped the next unit.
I figured out that this issues occurs when I copy and paste the top of unit, bottom of unit, AND description from one location to another. Now that I know what's causing it, I can work around it. But what a pain!
Question: When you paste the combined contents of the top of unit, bottom of unit and description fields into the new location in INPUT, does the entire description show up in the description field? Or is it truncated there as well?
It truncates there as well. However, if I copy & paste the discription alone (1 cell), there isn't a problem.
If I understand what you are describing it sounds like the bottom of one layer is overlapping the top of the next layer. And, this happens when you copy an entire record and not just the description field.
It sounds like you are getting overlapping layers because the bottom depth of one unit/layer is below the top depth of the next unit/layer.
Without seeing a screenshot of your Input it is not possible to confirm this, but if any of the depths do overlap the text could then print as overlapping layers on your Log report.
I am in INPUT not looking at an OUTPUT of a log. I am on the Lithology tab and talking about the description of the lithology truncating when I copy and paste them from one location on the lithology tab to another location of the lithology tab, when I copy and paste the descriptions with data in another column.
The only time I had issues with the output was when I try the original solution given here (Text not pushed down by text above).
Please note this issue does not lend itself to a screenshot because it involves an action. If I could video it, that would help but I don't have that capability. Since there seems to be a lot of confusion on what I'm trying to say and I've already solved the issue, lets drop it.
