Is anybody aware of an easy way to convert a REPORT template from one data structure to a different data structure that uses different field names? There is a utility to convert a PROJECT from one data structure to another but I want to convert a REPORT template. The best I have come up with is to assign the new data structure to the report and go through the report object by object replacing the existing field names with the new data structure field names. I can also use the find command to locate all occurrences of each field name and then manually change each occurrence. Both are tedious.
Hi szang. At this point the only way to customize an existing report template to match a different data structure is to do what you're doing. However, there is a shortcut that may help you save a lot of time.
1. Click the DATA DESIGN tab
2. Select the Project Database application
3. Click Tools > Replace Field Name
4. Select the button to the right of Field List
5. Enter the Find and Replace fields in the format of TABLENAME.Fieldname
6. Click the button to the right of Reports to Scan and select the report you wish to modify.
7. Click OK.
