We have to include surface and downhole wireline geophys data as associated data to an AGS file. Currently we are manually creating the FILE group using excel but as the project progress we are seeing this as not suitable and would like holebase to do the work but concerned adding lots of files to the database will clog it up and slow it down when using the database day to day.

It shouldn't. The document database will increase in size and if your running SQL Express you will eventually hit the 10GB limit so you may want to ensure the documents are a smaller file size or you may need to create new databases once one is full.
