I have been adding lines of sections to generate cross sections as provisional data comes through. How do I remove a section I have previously saved to avoid cluttering the legend for future site plan printouts?

Open the project, and select View on the ribbon, this will open a new tab Documents Project tab, through here you can delete any unwanted sections that are saved
