OG Template Studio - Invisible Hidden Objects Bug

Hi all,

This error tends to occur when you're moving objects around on a template in the following scenarios.

  1. Using cut + paste frequently
  2. Resetting, merging, and unmerging cells frequently
  3. Adding new objects to cells frequently

Sometimes when I add a new object to a cell, by double clicking the object type from the list on the left, the object isn't added to the cell. For some reason the properties pane still changes to that objects property settings. Sometimes this means that you've added a hidden invisible object to the template. You will notice this object because if it's an object that requires group or header inputs, you will no longer be able to preview a quick log and an error message will appear. You can find this object by unmerging the bugged cell, and clicking the error message. This object cannot be removed, as the reset button is grayed out. If you try to cut it to remove it, nothing happens. You can proceed if you add a group and header to the object (suggest making an empty one). See screenshot below.

Why does this bug occur? Is there a way to avoid it? Is there a way to delete the hidden objects?

  • Hi all,

After some trial and error, I have determined why this error occurs. This error is occurs because OpenGround only displays cell values within the top left cell within a merged cell. In addition, OpenGround remembers the cell you first selected before you merge, and you are technically still selecting that cell after you merge, therefore the object gets added to that cell. See screenshots below.

    1. Correct way to merge cells to avoid the bug.

    2. Repeating the bug

    3. Resolving the bug.

Note that if you started a merge selection with the wrong cell, you can avoid this error by clicking the cell after merging. Note that if you do this, usually the clipboard disabled bug will occur, and therefore if you are trying to move objects around on your template quickly, it's imperative that you merge cells starting with the top left. Here's the post on the clipboard disabled bug.
