I am trying to use maps at the system level, the view where it shows a dot for each project in the database. I have three related questions I cannot find answers to.
When I go to the Mapping menu item and press "Open Map" in the ribbon, the map opens and it seems that I can save the zoom level and extents by pressing "Set Initial View" from the ribbon in the Map Tools menu item.
When the map opens, the legend/sidebar of the map has the project symbol coded by Status. There is an option to select Category that is off by default. I prefer Category to Status, but after I make the changes I do not see where I can save that as a preference. "Set Initial View" does nothing in this regard. The image below shows what I
Q1: Where can I set the default legend/sidebar settings for the map?
Further, when I zoom in toward project locations, there is no label (Project ID) until I get to zoom Level 7. This is too close and I would like to see that information at a wider view.
Q2: Where can I set the zoom level at which the project label appears?
I am aware that I can use the tooltip to click on the project symbol and a popover with some relevant data will appear. While this is potentially useful, it is not nearly as useful as seeing Project ID at a wider zoom level.
Q3: Where can I edit the tooltip setting for the system level map?
I have found where to set these preferences at the project level -- in the Configuration Pack, from "Default Locations" in the Mapping section of the ribbon, but I cannot find it for the system level.
Thanks
Hi Gregory.
Q1. You cant set the defaults. That is a nice enhancement request.
Q2. I've checked this but its also not possible. It seems we can do it for Location details inside a project but not at system level for the projects. This would also be an enhancement request.
Q3.This is the same as Q2, it seems we have no control over this at system level.
I will add these enhancement items so we will hopefully see these as features in the future.
