Is it possible to only display borehole locations from Specific Location Groups?
Yes, you are able to work with Location Groups created in OpenGround Cloud and filter for only the locations part of the groups in Civil 3D.
If you are working on a large scale project you may only want to have a small section of Locations visually represented in Civil 3D. Using the groups selection tool in Civil 3D this is possible.
To begin with you will have a series of Location Groups created in OpenGround.
When you connect to the Civil 3D Extension initially and have selected the project you wish to work with from the projects list pressing next will display a Location Groups filter dialogue which will look similar to the one in OpenGround.
It is here where you are able to filter to show just the locations which are part of the groups you wish. It is important to note two things about location groups.
1) Not selecting any Location Group will assume you wish to work with all locations and show all
2) If you select all the Location Groups then only the locations as part of the groups will be displayed. If there are holes not part of any Location Group then they will not be represented on the drawing.
Select the groups you wish to use initially and press finish.
You will see only the locations part of the selected groups present on the drawing.
From here you can start to work with the selected locations.
It is possible to add or remove any or all location groups if you wish to. To do this click on the Groups Tab
The Location Groups Dialogue window will be displayed again. You can remove or add other if you wish to from this point.
You can use the Locations Manager to filter for just the locations you wish to show or for the time being turn off visibility for a group you are not currently working with.
Click on the Locations Manager and to filter for just the locations in one group select the group from the drop down. Un check the Include box to remove visibility of these locations.
The drawing will be updated to reflect this:
One final thing you can do to filter Locations is select a range of them from the drawing using the "Select from Drawing" tool.
Click the Select from Drawing tab and use you mouse to draw or highlight a section of locations you wish to filter.
After making your selection press Return to confirm selection. The selected locations will be filtered in the Locations Manager
You can then toggle their visibility by checking and/or unchecking the include box. To reset the filters just press the Clear All Filters tab
It is also important to understand that you can have locations which appear across multiple Location Groups, Civil will only show the location once so if you turn off visibility of a location is group 1 for example if it present in group 2 it will show as not included here also.
