Which layers are used by the Civil 3D Extension within Civil 3D?
Rather than imposing specific layers onto Civil 3D Extension users the application is designed to work with existing CAD standards. That is, if dedicated layers have already been nominated within existing CAD standards the Civil 3D Extension can be configured to pick them up.
There are two main areas where this applies:
Boreholes
The 'Borehole Manager' is used to control the display of intrusions in a variety of ways (e.g. plan view, profile strip). The way in which each 'presentation' of the data is controlled through the definition of a style, this being available through the style editor on the far right of each row in the 'Borehole Manager' interface:
The layer name can be specified for each style:
Layer 0 is generally the default, indicating that it really should be changed to something else. Note that the four tabs in this interface all a distinct style for each data presentation (and thus allows for a distinct layer to be defined) to be defined.
Strata Manager
The Strata Manager can be used to draw surfaces based on the geology. These surfaces are simply drawn on the currently active layer.
