The Excel Extension menu seems to be locked - sheet open in separate instance

Issue Summary

On occasion, the Excel Extension may appear to run two instances of Excel. This is characterised by, for example, the creation of a new template appearing in a seperate Excel window. This is particularly problematic as the Excel Extension ribbon is then no longer focused on the instance which contains the template; it thus becomes impossible to edit the sheet. Clearly, the solution is to open the template within the existing instance of Excel.

Resolution

The problem is known to come about as conflicts arise with other VBA Excel add ins. Therefore, these add ins need to be disabled to allow the issue to be addressed. This includes VBA add ins produced by Bentley. It may also include third party VBA add ins, such as 'Analysis ToolPak - VBA'. To disable add ins follow the steps below:

1. Go to File>Options>Add-ins.

2. From the Pick List select "Excel Add-ins" then select "Go".

3. In the window that opens un-tick the add-ins and select "ok".

4. Restart Excel using the Excel Extension shortcut.
