Mapping services can sometimes be blocked if the internet connection is handled via a proxy. This results in the mapping tiles failing to appear; instead, a red cross placeholder symbol might appear instead of the tiles.
In order to address this issue the relevant URLs will need to be added to the proxy exception list:
