Set Previous Depth Base Action

When creating a Geology step for use in a Mobile Data Entry Profile there is a special action that can be added called " Set Previous Base Depth"

What it means when creating a data entry profile

“Set Previous Base” is under Actions and active by default. The user does not need to set it as an action.

However, considerations when creating forms should be given. Using “Set Previous Base” means users do not need to enter nor edit the bottom depth of a geology.

Therefore, when configuring a Collector profile is it suggested that Bottom Depth be set as a read only field.

Additionally, Bottom Depth can be made to appear only in the grid, and not in the form. This would remove an extra field in the data entry form that a user does not need to enter.

The above configuration and results are shown in the screen shot below.

Set Previous Depth Base Action

When creating a step a Geology step for use in a Mobile Data Entry Profile there is a special action that can be added called " Set Previous Base Depth"

How it works

The purpose of this action is to help speed up the entry of Geology Depths by prepopulating the previous depth base with the value from the current records depth top.

Putting this into context this is useful for ensuring no gaps in Geology data, this also means it is possible to turn the depth base field off in the form and only show it in the grid.

To add it simply add the action from the list of available actions when adding the Geology Step. If needed the prompt for this can be turned off so the end user isn't notified when recording the data.

To validate the action works correctly at least two geology records will need to be added on the device.

After saving the second depth top record the user can navigate to the the grid view of previously entered geology records. From here it will show both depth top record values and it will show the first records depth base populated with the value from the second records depth top field.

It is important to note that for the final record the depth base will always default to the final depth of the borehole if that record is popluated in the Location Details form. This can be manually overwritten by user entered depth base values if that field is visible on the form view.
