Interface

When Professional opens you will have a single/couple of projects on the list. This list is will in time become a long list of the projects you have worked on.

The single project is the starting point for this tutorial.

System to Project

In OpenGround you have two different levels which you will need to consider. The first is system level and this would relate to the information on the project's grid you are looking at as well as the configuration and user management.

The project level is everything you see within a project,

Projects

To open a project you can double click on it.

Inside a project, the interface has areas which will help you navigate around your projects.

Ribbons,
Grids,
Data Tree.

Ribbons,

The Ribbons in OpenGround work like Excel or Word. Some ribbons will only show if you select areas of the program.

Grids

Grids is what we see in the program. A grid is a view of a table/group in the database. in this way, a grid can be modified and also could have more information or less information that is in the table/group in the database. This is very important to understand as you might find you see the same table/group with different grids.

When you select a grid the name along the top of the grid window will show in orange.

Note this also gives you the context-sensitive Grid Tools ribbon as we talked about in the first section.

Data Tree

The data tree gives you access to all the different table/groups in which you can store data for a project. you can Open any of these by double-clicking on them.

The counts next to them tell you the number of records in each table.

Data Tree Notes

The data tree is only a subset of the data which can be captured there are a lot of additional tables/groups which are currently switched off.
