You have text with no depths that appears in either the header or the footer of your log. Our example uses Depth Text Table entities to show general remarks in the footer, but these principles apply to any text entities that do not have depths.
Here are two ways to do this:
If you have a long paragraph of remarks:
Add a Depth Text Table to your footer comments area. This will be for the first page of your log.
Calculate about how many characters will fit in the comments area. The TextSegment function will break up text and memo fields in segments that are close to a specified number of characters. It does this by breaking on spaces and on carriage returns only. This expression grabs the first segment that is close to 230 characters long from a field called Notes on the Point tab/table:
<<TextSegment(<<POINT.Notes>>,230,1)>>
Go to the Configuration tab.
Enter "remarks pg 1" in Design Mode Text Display. This will only show in Report Design.
for the Output Condition enter:
<<Pg>> = 1
Note: We could use the Page 1 option of the Page Range picker on the Main tab to limit this table to the first page. But, because there is no 'Page 2' option, we will use an output condition for the second table. For consistency, we use will an output condition for the first table also.
Go to the Wrap tab, enter a column width.
Add another Depth Text Table for the second page. This expression will grab the second segment close to 230 characters long:
<<TextSegment(<<POINT.Notes>>,230,2)>>
Enter the same X value as the first Depth Text Table. For the Y value, enter a value that will put it outside the printable area. The bottom is a good spot.
Go to the Configuration tab,
Enter "remarks pg 2" in Design Mode Text Display. This will only show up in Report Design.
For the Output Condition enter
<<Pg>> = 2
In Output Override Y, enter the same Y value as the first Depth Text Table.
On the Wrap tab, enter the same column width.
Go to OutputLogs. Here is page one:
And page two:
If your remarks are a numbered list:
In Report Design, add a Text entity to label your remarks paragraph, for example, enter "GENERAL REMARKS" in the Text Expression box. Place it in the footer.
Decide how many remarks to show on the first page. This expression will grab the first five remarks from a field called Note in a tab/table called Remarks:
<<IIf(<<REMARKS.ItemKey>> >= 5,<<REMARKS.ItemKey>>. <<REMARKS.Note>>)>>
Enter "remarks pg 1" in Design Mode Text Display. This will only show up in Report Design.
On the Wrap tab, enter a column width.
Add another Depth Text Table for the second page. This expression will grab the rest of the remarks:
