Our projects have paths in Input to photos. We are moving the projects to a new server. This will break the links to the photos, won't it? How do we fix this?
Due to the size of photo files, they are not placed in the project file (.gpj) but are referenced in the project file. When the project file is handed off or moved, or the photos' storage location is moved, the reference path may need to be updated.
If the photos for a project are in the same folder as the project, you do not have to do anything. gINT will find the photos at Output time. However, the paths to the photos in Input will not be updated; they will still point to the old location.
At the Original Location
Go to INPUTMain. Select the tab that has the links to the photos.
You will notice that the photos listed all have a location path.
Select FileImport/ExportExport to Excel File.
Click the Launch Windows Explorer button to the right of the entry field Excel File.
Select either Excel 2007 (*.xlsx) or Excel 2003 (*.xls) in the Save as type field.
Set the directory, enter a file name and click the Save button.
Select Current Screen only and click OK.
A report is displayed listing how many records were exported.
Now the project file (.gpj) and the photos can be moved as needed. In the case of sending the project to client or customer, the photos and the excel file should also be zipped into the project bundle.
After the Move
The following instructions may need to be sent to the client or customer so they can update their photo locations.
In Excel, select Find & Select. Click Replace.
In the Find what entry field, enter the old path to the photos.
In the Replace with entry field, enter the new path.
Click Replace All. Repeat if there are other paths that need to be updated.
Save the changes to the spreadsheet.
Open gINT and load the project file.
Click on INPUT and select FileImport/ExportImport from Excel File.
Select the Excel file.
Set the Override Options to Named Fields (Fields not named are ignored). Click OK.
A report will display noting how many fields were updated.
