How do I change the name of an Input field or tab?

Changing the name of a field or table tab is generally not recommended.  If you change the name you will probably have to change your report templates to match the new name.  It is usually better to add a caption.  The caption will then show in place of the name.  This can be done in Input or in Data Design Project Database.  If you have more than one change it is probably easier to do this in Data Design.

    Steps to Accomplish

Add a caption to a field

    2. XXXXXXX(add more steps as needed)XXXXXXX

Add a caption to a field in Data Design Project Database

    Go to Data Design>Project Database

Go to File>Open Project.  Select a project to modify.  The field list for the Project tab/table opens:

Select each field in the list and enter a caption.

From the big yellow drop-down list, select another tab/table to add captions there:

Note: The Point tab/table is captioned “Borehole”; in other words, the tab they see in Input called Borehole is really called Point.

They may also want to change the names of the tabs/tables:

Go to File>Properties.  The Properties dialog opens.  Enter a caption:

To get these changes into a new project file (*.GPJ), they can either clone from this project or they can create a data template and clone from the data template.  Our recommendation is to clone from a data template.  To create data template:

Go to File>New Data Template>Clone From Current.  Enter a file name, select a location and click Save.  I would recommend that they save the data template on the network, somewhere that all the gINT users can access it from.

To create a new project from the data template, go to Input.  Click File>New Project>Clone Data Template.
