Create a Project Filter for Input

We have a lot of projects in our enterprise database. Is there a way to filter the list of projects?

Steps to Accomplish

The purpose of Project Filters is to keep projects at a manageable level in environments where there are large numbers of projects and/or multiple offices. The Project Filters command is available only in gINT Professional Plus. Project Filters are designed to be used in a multiple-project environment. This command is optional and can be turned On/Off at File > System Properties > General tab > Show Input Filters. By default Project Filters is turned off.

If you select a filter and close and reopen gINT, the filter remains selected. The choice is saved in the user settings file, setup.gsh

Project Filters are saved in the project library file.

Project Filters are recommended to be created by gINT administrators/managers because filters must be written in the language of the enterprise database and can be complex to create.

To Select a gINT Project Filter

Select Input > Files > System Properties > General > Show Input Filters.
Available project filters are displayed in a dropdown list. If No Filter is selected, all available projects are displayed in the Project list.
Select the project filter you want to use (for example, all projects with "School" in the project name).

Only projects with "School" in the project name are shown in the Project list.

To Create a gINT Project Filter

Select Input > Tools > Project Filters.
Enter a name for the filter you are creating. Description is optional. The date is automatically populated.
Click Edit.
Using the language of the enterprise database, create the expression to use for the new filter. This is similar to writing a WHERE clause for a query but you would omit the word "where". For example, in a Microsoft SQL database, if we wish to filter for all projects containing the word "School" in the Name field, our filter might look like this:
Click Execute to test the filter.
Click OK.

The new project filter is added to the Project Filters list.
